The concertos and sonatas included in the three cds that form this box-set were recorded at different times and with different conductors and orchestras. This collection aims to be a compendium of Enrica Ciccarelli’s outstanding piano-playing. The first and second CD contain Mozart piano concertos. A keen study of Mozart’s works and a deep understanding of the historic period in which they have been composed form the basis of this intense interpretation, which is both personal and respectful of the score. The third CD contains sonatas by Beethoven, Weber and Schubert, selected as part of a historic analysis. All the works selected for this collection share a common theme: the political turmoil that shook Europe in 1816. The expression of dissent, unrest, torments and discord that accompanied the attainment of intellectual and civil liberty find peculiar and diverse expressions in the different personalities of these three great composers.
